In this MS Project tutorial, you will learn how to follow the progress of your schedule with several methods, you will discover tips for following complex projects of up to ten thousand tasks.
To get started, go to the View tab . In the Zoom section, click on 'Zoom to entire project' . This gives you an overview of your schedule.
Next, we'll create a filter to see all tasks that start before the status date. For that, go to the Filter tab and choose this filter . This simplifies task tracking.
However, to update progress, it is best to have an overview of the project, including critical milestones, to see the impact of changes. To do this, clear all filters .
To update the progress, select the relevant task, go to the Task tab and update the task's actual percentage of progress . You can even select multiple tasks at once.
To shift a task, you just need to click on the task in the Gantt chart, hold the click and move the task . See the impact on milestones by shifting tasks. In this example, we can clearly see that the milestones are shifted. We will come back to this point in other courses to see how to optimize the schedule and the critical path.
In addition, you can also update the progress of a task directly on the Gantt by holding the click on the task and dragging it according to the progress .
You can also shift the tasks in the table by updating the 'Start' and 'End' columns . In the Format menu, click 'Text Style' . Select 'Changed Cells' and change the text and background color to highlight the changes .
To track overdue tasks, go to the View tab, choose 'Filter' and select 'Overdue Tasks' . You can then update the progress of these tasks directly.
Finally, to track progress on the board, add the '% Complete' column and update the percentage complete directly in the Gantt .
And There you go. With a few simple steps, you can track the progress of your project in Microsoft Project. Thanks for following this tutorial.
